Edelweiss Air will offer a Seattle-Zurich connection next June | News

Edelweiss Air will connect Switzerland’s largest city, Zurich, with Seattle-Tacoma International Airport with nonstop flights starting in June 2025, Sea-Tac announced on Tuesday.

The twice-weekly service will be operated with Airbus A340-300 aircraft and will connect the Edelweiss, Swiss and Star Alliance networks across Europe and beyond. Edelweiss is a sister airline of Swiss International Air Lines and a member of the Lufthansa Group. Its global route network includes more than 90 destinations in over 30 countries, according to an airport press release.

“Whether you’re flying to Switzerland or coming from there to Seattle, traveling on both continents is made easier with this connection between world-class cities,” said Lance Lyttle, the airport’s CEO, in the press release. “SEA continues to offer new opportunities to explore new regions of the world. And don’t forget, Zurich is home to FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association), which will host the World Cup in Seattle in 2026!”

Seattle is the sixth destination in the USA and Canada for the Zurich-based airline. It flies to Denver, Las Vegas and Tampa as well as to Calgary and Vancouver. Edelweiss announced that it will add Halifax in Nova Scotia next July.

There are non-stop flights to Seattle from Zurich every Monday and Saturday from June to September. There are also non-stop flights to Halifax from Zurich every Thursday and Sunday from July to the beginning of October.

According to Bernd Bauer, CEO of Edelweiss, the flights to Seattle offer a convenient connection to Zurich in Central Europe and also bring Swiss travelers to Seattle and the Pacific Northwest.

“Swiss visitors tend to stay longer and make a greater economic contribution than visitors from other countries,” Bauer said in the press release. “We expect to bring over 5,000 visitors to Seattle each summer, which represents an economic contribution of over $20 million to the region.”

Sea-Tac currently has 26 airlines flying to 33 international destinations. Later this week, Starlux Airlines will be added to that list, adding a new airline to the list. Philippine Airlines will fly to Manila in October and Alaska Airlines will fly to Liberia, Costa Rica, in December, it said.

From June to September, Edelweiss flies from Zurich to Seattle every Monday and Saturday. The flights from Seattle to Zurich also depart on Mondays and Saturdays.
