Hoda Kotb sobs over 60th birthday gift from ‘Today’ producers

Hoda Kotb celebrated a milestone birthday on Friday and her colleagues in Today The show honored her and her work all morning.

During the Monday, August 12 broadcast, the team honored “60 years of this woman, Hoda” and the “wonderful privilege of working alongside her every day” by playing back the tapes and showing an emotional montage of moments that showcased Kotb’s impact. Producers even reunited Kotb with some very special guests.

As her co-stars Craig Melvin And Savannah Guthrie As she introduced the segment highlighting some of the most powerful and inspiring stories Kotb has been involved in, the birthday girl was admittedly nervous. Her lips began to purse shortly after a photo of Leah And Devon Still appeared on the screen. As Devon began to recall the “powerful moment” when he and his family met Kotb to film the “Truly Brave” special, which focused on the tenacious fighters against childhood cancer, the NBC media star burst into tears.

The montage then switched to a special message from another person involved in a story that brought Kotb national fame: Bart Conleywho learned six months after his wedding that his wife Jill had breast cancer. Bart recalled that Kotb had formed a lifelong friendship with the couple after meeting them at a breast cancer research fundraiser.

Then it was Frank And Stacey ParradoIt’s her turn to remember her relationship Make space Podcast host who was introduced to the couple while sharing their adoption story.

Leah, who has now been cancer-free for nine years, was accompanied by her father Devon, as well as Bart, Frank and Stacey and their daughter Addisonwho all came on stage for a surprise appearance that left an already emotional Kotb sobbing.

“It’s too much,” Kotb told her co-hosts, trying to hold back her tears. “It’s too much.”
