The following contains major spoilers for Green Lantern No. 14, now available from DC Comics.

After being trapped in one of Amanda Waller’s superhuman prisons along with numerous others, Hal Jordan finally gets a chance at freedom in the pages of Green Lantern #14. Of course, he still doesn’t have access to his powers, so Hal is outnumbered and outgunned when he tries to escape. Luckily, the place he’s escaping from happens to be one of the many armories Waller built for himself, and even if the best he can do is use the Spice King’s mustard and spice guns, that’s actually enough to pull off his plan.

The original Condiment King, Buddy Standler, was an original creation by Paul Dini and Randy Rogel for the DC Animated Universe. Standler first appeared in the 1994 episode of Batman: The Animated Series titled “Make ‘Em Laugh,” in which he was introduced as a former television comedian turned food-related supervillain. As it turns out, Standler did not transform into the Condiment King of his own volition, but as a result of the Clown Prince of Crime, the Joker’s, experience with the Mad Hatter’s mind-control technology.

Hal Jordan is just one of the many heroes who have fallen victim to Amanda Waller’s army of supercharged Amazo androids throughout the DC Comics series. Absolute power Event. With the help of Failsafe, the original Amazo android that served as a literal failsafe against the Dark Knight, Waller has developed six more of his kind, all capable of stealing the powers of the world’s greatest heroes, seemingly forever.

One of the most brutal villains Batman has ever faced is officially back in action and well on his way to winning Amanda Waller’s war.

Among the seven Amazo androids deployed by Waller, collectively known as Task Force VII, is Jadestone, who stole the powers of nearly every Green Lantern who had graced Earth with their presence. After absorbing the powers of Alan Scott, the Green Lantern who draws his powers from the mystical Starheart, Jadestone became filled with a disturbingly deep sense of duty to serve others. While this hasn’t caused her to turn against Waller yet, it does make Jadestone the newest member of Task Force VII to exhibit behaviors she should probably take note of herself.
