Big Brother 26: Exit Interview with Kenney Kelley

Big Brother 26: Exit Interview with Kenney Kelley

Kenney Kelley finally got his wish on “Big Brother 26”. The former police officer wanted to go home since, well, the first week. He was on the brink of defeat for the entire three weeks and all good things come in threes, because on Thursday he was thrown out with a 10:1 vote. QuinnAmerica’s replacement candidate, according to the House consensus goal, Tuckerwon the AI Arena.

“I’m really excited to see my family again. It’s been a long time. I’ve never been away from my family for so long without any contact, so I’m really excited to come home to my kids and my wife,” he tells Gold Derby (see above). “The weeks in the Big Brother house are very long. Some days you have bad days and you really want to go home. Some days you want to compete and stay in the game and work on your alliance. So it was a balance. Some of my closest houseguests would say, ‘Kenney, are you having a good day today? Or are you having a bad day?’ And I’d say, ‘Oh, I’m having a good day.’ ‘OK, fine.’ I think there were a lot of people in the house that wanted me to stay, especially if I was up there competing against Quinn. But it was tough being in the house.”

Although Kenney talked a lot about wanting to go home over the last three weeks, often telling his fellow guests outright to vote him out, he doesn’t believe his homesickness was the reason they kicked him out. The only dissenting vote was Tucker.

“Ultimately, they made the right decision. And they didn’t make the decision because they thought I would miss home. They knew I was a competitor. I was second in almost every competition if I didn’t win it,” he says. “I destroyed the Veto competition and nobody even came close to me. So they knew I was a physical threat, that I could put puzzles together and solve the difficult competitions. That was also the whispering in the house: ‘Yes, we know Kenney wants to go home, but remember he can win competitions and he’s going to be dangerous.’ And they all knew it. Everyone was afraid to get on the lock if I was HOH.”

After AI Arena, Kenney wasn’t sure if he or Quinn would be eliminated, who has the power to take over a HOH himself. Tucker exposed Quinn’s power this week, but Kenney doesn’t think it’s a mistake to keep Quinn because he doesn’t think he would use his power, which expires after Week 4.

“Putting three people on the list is a pretty big task. And if he has to put three people on the list – he’s allied himself with pretty much everyone in the House, so he’s going to have a lot of explaining to do if he has to put three people on the list and potentially a fourth,” Kenney says. “So that’s a huge turning point and that power is not as big as you would think, especially if you’re in the House and you know the relationships that exist there.”
