Green-Wood Cemetery and Printique, a photo printing service owned by camera and electronics retailer Adorama, have launched a photography contest called “A Moment in Time,” inviting both novice and experienced photographers to capture the wonder and excitement of exploring the beauty, history and vibrant life in Green-Wood.
Participants are encouraged to submit images that capture their perspective of this historic landmark and beloved community green space. Whether it’s a striking monument, a bird frozen in mid-flight, a concert in the catacombs, or the serene beauty of a stroll through the cemetery, they want to see the memorable moments you experienced during your visits.
“We are excited to see how our visitors capture the essence of Green-Wood,” said Harry J. Weil, vice president of education and programming at Green-Wood Cemetery. “This photo contest and exhibit is a wonderful opportunity to showcase what the nearly half a million people who come through our gates love about this cemetery.”
Selected images will be printed by Printique and prominently displayed along Green-Wood’s fence this fall, giving the community an outdoor display honoring the historic landmark.
“At Printique, we believe in the power of photography to tell stories and preserve memories,” said Gabrielle Grace, Social Media Manager at Printique. “We are thrilled to partner with Green-Wood on this project as it allows us to honor the unique perspectives of our community while celebrating a cherished landmark.”
The competition runs until August 30, 2024. A jury of Green-Wood and Printique employees will select 10 winning photos. The winners will be notified by email after the closing date.
Only one submission per person is permitted and only Green-Wood photos will be selected. AI-generated submissions are not permitted and you must reside in the New York City metropolitan area to enter the contest.
