Ravens tight end Mark Andrews was in a car accident on the way to practice on Wednesday, the team said.

Andrews, a veteran who was originally scheduled to take a day off from practice, was examined by the Ravens medical staff and suffered no apparent injuries.

The 28-year-old will return to training in the coming days, the team said.

Baltimore will face Atlanta in its second preseason game on Saturday.

“I appreciate everyone’s thoughts and well wishes,” Andrews said in a statement. “This is a great reminder of the importance of wearing seatbelts and staying alert when driving.”

Andrews missed the second half of last regular season after suffering a serious ankle injury in a game against the Bengals on November 16.

He returned for the AFC Championship Game loss to the Chiefs and caught two passes for 15 yards.

The 2018 third-round pick caught 45 passes for 544 yards and six touchdowns in his sixth season.

The car crash was the second traffic accident Andrews has been involved in recently.

On a flight in February, Andrews used his diabetes testing kit to help a doctor and nurse resuscitate a woman having a medical emergency.

Andrews and the Ravens are preparing to defend their AFC North title and look to maintain their top spot in the conference.

Baltimore went 13-4 last season, defeating the Texans in the divisional round before losing at home to the eventual Super Bowl champions.

The Chiefs and Ravens will meet in a rematch of the AFC Championship Game in Kansas City on September 5th at the start of the NFL season.

This duel will pit two of the league’s best tight ends, Andrews and Travis Kelce, against each other. There will also be a battle for the MVP title at quarterback between Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes.
