Now fans and collectors can get their hands on the record in three new colorways: “Black Widow” Red Smoke (available exclusively at the Alice In Chains store), “Black Smoke” (available through the Craft Recordings store), and “Electric Smoke” (available through Revolver). A standard black vinyl pressing is also available through Amazon.

The fourth studio album by Alice in Chains, Black is replaced by blue marked a new chapter for the band. After a long hiatus and the death of frontman Layne Staley in 2002, AIC made a bold comeback with a new singer, William DuVall, and finally released their comeback LP in 2009 to great acclaim.

“There was no master plan, no matter what people think,” Cantrell said Metal hammer in July regarding AIC’s comeback. “That felt right, so we did the next thing and then the next thing… It’s more than just making music and it always has been. We’ve been friends for a long time. We’re not doing this to please anyone. It had to be OK from here on out (points to chest).”

The band’s permanent line-up of DuVall, singer and guitarist Jerry Cantrell, drummer Sean Kinney and bassist Mike Inez continues to tour and release new music, with the 2018 album Rainer Fog is their latest full-length album.

Cantrell is also active as a solo artist. He is currently supporting Bush’s North American summer tour (tickets available here) and has a new album in the works.
