Man arrested for multiple car break-ins in Green Hills

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Detectives have arrested a man wanted for multiple car break-ins in the Green Hills shopping district earlier this year.

According to affidavits, detectives with the Metro Nashville Police Department conducted surveillance on 20-year-old Augustin Oshaughnessy Tuesday morning at a home on 25th Avenue North, next to Gen. Clinton B Fisk Park. Oshaughnessy had warrants for his arrest for two car thefts in March.

Investigators arrested him as he was leaving the house, and a search of the property found a total of 325 grams of marijuana hidden in various locations throughout the house. The affidavit states that investigators had enough evidence to believe Oshaughnessy was selling the drugs.

His outstanding arrest warrants resulted from two car break-ins in March:

  • March 2 – A woman’s vehicle parked on Hillsboro Pike was broken into in the middle of the day and $50 in cash was stolen.
  • 18 March – A man reported a break-in into his vehicle parked at the Mall at Green Hills, where newly purchased items totaling $7,309 were stolen.

In both cases, Oshaughnessy’s face was clearly captured on surveillance cameras and detectives were able to identify him by his unique and colorful hairstyle, the affidavit states.

Oshaughnessy was arrested on Tuesday, August 13, and charged with two counts of auto theft, two counts of theft of property, and one count of possession of marijuana with intent to sell.
