Do you hear that? That familiar bubbling in the distance? It is the unmistakable sound of Randy Newman stretching his vocal cords for (yet) another episode of Toy history franchise.
Almost 30 years after the original film was released (and five years after Toy Story 4 surprised everyone), Pixar announced at the Disney D23 Expo that another adventure was on the way. Fans even got a little (emphasis on “little”) sneak peek at a still from the upcoming film.

Is there a trailer for Toy Story 5?
Not really – alongside the image released by Pixar, there was a short animated video featuring the old pals, but that’s all. We wouldn’t expect to see a trailer until late 2025 at the earliest.
Who is in Toy Story 5?
So far, Tim Allen (Buzz Lightyear) and Blake Clarke (Slinky Dog) have been confirmed, but we’re sure Tom Hanks (Woody), Joan Cusack (Jessie) and more surprise guest stars will be announced in due course.
What is the plot of Toy Story 5?
According to the film’s director, Andrew Stanton, TS5 will tackle the topic of “what kids are obsessed with today: electronics.” The image released also shows what looks like a child staring at an iPad under a blanket while the toys look on sadly. Hopefully the plot is a little more nuanced than “Oh, aren’t screens bad? If only kids would play with toys like they used to…”
Several people have noticed the fact that in TS4 (*Spoiler*) Woody decides to leave the gang and start a new chapter of his life with Bo Peep. A fan on X commented: “Woody shouldn’t be here, let him be finished. The whole fourth film was about him being finished,” while another added: “You have already spoiled the perfect ending with Toy Story 3 and then gave Woody a great farewell in Toy Story 4. How is Toy Story 5 go to work, lol”.
