A24 has just released a new trailer for its latest horror project. The front room. We first shared this film with you in June. It is the directorial debut of the Eggers brothers, Max and Sam. And in case you are wondering if there is any connection to Robert Eggers of The Witch And The Northmanthat’s a big yes. Max, Sam and Robert are actually brothers. Based on a short story by Susan Hill, The front room is about a mother-in-law from hell. Here is the official synopsis:
For newly pregnant Belinda (Brandy), everything goes wrong after her mother-in-law (Kathryn Hunter) moves in with her. When the devilish guest tries to get the child in his claws, Belinda has to draw the line somewhere…
Now let’s take a look at the new trailer:
Religious horror and absolutely embarrassing racism are highlighted here! But we’re willing to bet it’s nothing Brandy can’t handle. We can only hope this ends up falling into the “good for her” subgenre. Honestly, we’re just really excited to see Brandy Norwood back on the big screen, as the lead in a horror film. After her role as Karla Wilson in 1998’s The Last Man I still remember what you did last summerwas Despite it Waiting for the news that she has agreed to the reboot. Fingers crossed!
Andrew Burnap, Neal Huff and Kathryn Hunter also star. The front room is the directorial debut of Sam and Max Eggers, but they are no newbies in the business. Sam previously wrote in 2018 Olympics while working on the crew for The Witchand Max were co-authors The lighthouseDirector: Robert Eggers.
The front room will be in theaters on September 6, 2024.
