Sonam’s vision for her home is very personal; she spent days searching for decor and items that appeal to her and reflect the evolution of her style over the years. She has placed unique pieces in every corner, sourced from across the country. She inherited her passion for interior design from her family; her maternal grandmother probably influenced her during her childhood.

The house welcomes you with an explosion of colours, textures, patterns and artistic paintings that give it a warm feel. The house also features Tanjore paintings, Naga panels, Rajasthani jalis and walls decorated with Zardozi embroidery that are a visual feast for the eyes. She has created a place where every corner speaks and tells an evocative story. She wanted to add nostalgia and coziness to a modern building where she could have heartfelt conversations with her friends and family. Her living room, the heart of her home, is filled with maximalist layers of Indian aesthetics and her bedroom has a large jharokha for a view of uninterrupted aesthetics.

Sonam has come up with this house along with her aunt Kavita Singh, a famous interior designer, and has created a place that feels both modern and traditional. From a blank canvas, both have created a beautiful blend of modernity and traditional heritage. A deep and rich color palette envelops their house, along with double-height ceilings. Their house is nothing less than a palace with paintings, walls with bold and colorful patterns, vintage decorative items, woven carpets and traditional furniture.

Mehzabin Khakhariwala, principal architect and head designer at Spiro Spero, shares her insights on decorating your home inspired by Sonam Kapoor’s residence. “If you are a fan of bold patterns and textures, you can achieve this by adding a glass mosaic on the walls or using different materials like wool, leather and velvet and bold colors for your furniture,” she adds.

Taking inspiration from Sonam’s intricate elements in her home, Mehzabin also suggests incorporating elements from India’s rich culture and art, such as floral and geometric patterns and various art styles like Worli and Pichwai with a balanced color palette on curtains and furniture to achieve maximum style.
