Happy second birthday!
TODAY anchors Savannah Guthrie and Jenna Bush Hager both had reason to celebrate as their daughters took another trip around the sun. That’s right, Savannah’s daughter Vale turns 10 and Jenna’s daughter Poppy turns 9 on the same day: August 13.
Savannah celebrated Vale’s entry into the world of double digits with a series of adorable pictures on Instagram.
“Ten years with this magical girl – my whole heart and soul. Happy birthday, dearest Vale!” she wrote.
In the photos, Vale enjoys a delicious-looking Belgian waffle, shows off her pierced ears, is twinned with her mother, enjoys an Olympic-themed treat, dresses up, relaxes in her pajamas, hugs her father, and more.
Vale had quite a summer – just before her tenth birthday, Savannah surprised Vale and her younger brother Charlie with a trip to France to watch the Olympics.
Savannah posted a video on Instagram of herself breaking the news to her children, along with the caption, “This is only one thing to do when you miss them so much!!”
Jenna was also very emotional on her daughter’s birthday.
“Can I just wish Poppy Louise Hager a happy 9th birthday?” Jenna said on TODAY.
“You know Poppy,” she told Hoda Kotb. “She’s the most original, spirited, free baby and she’s so funny.”
Jenna said she looked back at photos of Poppy’s childhood and felt “mommy teary” and half of the pictures show Poppy making funny faces. “She’s just so great.”
Jenna posted some of these pictures on Instagram and wrote: “Nine years with this beauty: and my world is more fun, brighter and definitely full of laughter! We love you!”
Savannah commented on the post: “Poppy Louise you are the best and we all love you so much!! And Vale just loves being birthday twins with you!!!”
“She is exactly who she is,” Hoda said. “She always has been.”
Jenna is celebrating her daughter with a special hibachi dinner planned by her big sister, Mila Hager. “The theme is pink,” Jenna said, adding, “She’s really looking forward to it.”
