John Cena explains why he wants to take part in the UK WrestleMania – TJR Wrestling

John Cena wants to wrestle in Great Britain before his retirement.

During a surprise appearance at Money In The Bank 2023 in London, John Cena called on WWE to bring WrestleMania to the UK.

Although it seemed like Cena’s appeals weren’t a crowd-pleaser, there could have been a lot more to it. On July 25, it was revealed that Triple H and Nick Khan had traveled to London to meet with Mayor Sadiq Khan. The meeting came after Sadiq Khan publicly expressed his desire to bring WrestleMania to London in April.

The trio met to discuss their “shared goal” of holding WrestleMania in London. The mayor later described the talks as “productive,” adding that it was exciting to be working with the sports entertainment giant.

In a new interview with talkSPORT, Cena said he wants to wrestle in the UK one more time before retiring in 2025, and then explained why he wants to move WrestleMania across the pond.

“I really hope so. As you know, I’m retiring from the ring next year. We’ll start in January and have our last fight in December 2025. I really hope that that retirement includes some dates in the UK. I meant what I said and I said the same thing in Canada. The UK and Canada have been so supportive of WWE through thick and thin.

I’ve been pushing for WrestleMania to be held in London because I think London has earned the right to host the grandest stage of all. Nick Khan and Triple H were just there speaking to the Mayor of London.

Hopefully, I don’t know, it will work out and maybe there will be WrestleMania in London in the future. It won’t happen in 2025, so unfortunately I won’t have a match there, but if I do, I will definitely be there as a fan,”

WWE star wants to retire John Cena

Following the announcement of his retirement, WWE stars past and present lined up to stand up to the legend. However, there is one rising Superstar who seems determined to end Cena’s career.

After saying it would be “great” to face the star, Bron Breakker told him to “grow some balls” and fight for his newly won Intercontinental Title.

Breakker has since said that his ultimate dream would be to retire Cena.
