Quiz and cosplay fun at a party for plant fans – NBC Los Angeles

What you should know

  • Nerd in the garden
  • August 31 at the California Botanic Garden in Claremont; 6 to 9 p.m.
  • $20 for adults; other ticket categories available

Your fantastic facts about ferns leave people open-mouthed, your knowledge of ivy is bigger than a giant leaf and you know everything there is to know about palm trees?

Your fronds, er, friends are always impressed by your wealth of plant-related anecdotes.

There’s a place where you can indulge your love of plants and maybe win a round of trivia or a cosplay contest: the California Botanic Garden in Claremont, a scenic spot that welcomes plant lovers year-round.

But on Saturday, August 31st? Aloe enthusiasts and Monstera experts can browse the garden for three lively evening hours.

The “Nature Nerds Festival” is teeming with festive activities, including “a native plant side quest,” “nature-themed board games,” and, sweetly, “pop culture plant trivia.”

Tickets are on sale now. Oh yeah, food trucks will be nearby if you want to dine outdoors at the event.

Want to liven up the end-of-summer vibe? Some educators from the Alf Museum will be dropping by with a pop-up museum, adding to the wonderful nerd atmosphere of this fantastic evening.

“Geek” has long been interchangeable with “nerd,” although everyone should wear both names with pride; it expresses that you are dedicated, enthusiastic, and totally excited about a great cause.

And if you love stunning nature, pretty plants and all things green, be sure to check out this festival under the stars just hours before the start of September.
