Dominik Mysterio’s wife feels an unearthly level of trust in their relationship.
Mysterio, the son of WWE legend Rey Mysterio Jr. and a rising star in his own right, has been involved in a raunchy storyline with wrestlers Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley in recent months.
Despite all the public affection expressed in the soap opera plot, Mysterio says his wife, Marie Juliette, understands the difference between real life and his television character.
“Honestly, she’s the best. I do what I do on TV, and last week when Rhea licked my face, the first text I got from her was, ‘There’s a tarantula in our garage,'” Mysterio said this week on Logan Paul’s podcast “Impaulsive.”
He said that this text had “nothing to do with” the soap opera on television and that his wife had “nothing” to say about it.
“She understands the difference between what I see on TV as ‘Dirty Dom’ and what I find at home and what I find when I come home and her husband Dominik. There is a big difference between what I find when I come home. She does a good job of separating work and everyday life.”
This approach has become a central part of WWE’s television presentation, and Mysterio’s betrayal of Ripley was used to allow Morgan to defend her Women’s World Championship at SummerSlam in Cleveland.
One of the subplots of the stories is that Mysterio and the WWE writers apparently want the audience to question whether he is actually the son of Rey Mysterio or whether he is perhaps the offspring of the late Eddie Guerrero – who the WWE dealt with in an on-screen version in 2005.
With his goatee and long hair, Dominik resembles Guerrero much more than his father, and he exhibits many of the same sleazy romantic elements as Guerrero’s “Latino Heat” character from the early 2000s.
Guerrero and Mysterio Jr. were frenemies throughout their time in Mexico, ECW, WCW and WWE.
Dominik and his wife Marie Juliette reportedly met at the age of 14 in high school Spanish class.
When they married in March, Dominik was booed because of his WWE heel character.
