Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander River Ryan will undergo Tommy John surgery for an elbow injury he suffered in his fourth major league start on Saturday.

The Dodgers announced Tuesday that Ryan will have ligament replacement surgery next week. The team had already announced that Ryan would miss the rest of the season. The surgery will also likely force him to miss most, if not all, of 2025.

Ryan, 25, went 1-0 with a 1.33 ERA in four appearances for Los Angeles this season. He was 0-0 with a 2.22 ERA in eight minor league appearances.

After the Dodgers’ 4-1 win at Pittsburgh on Saturday, Ryan said he felt tightness in his forearm in the third inning. He was taken out of the game in the fifth inning.

RADIATION: Tampa Bay recalled infielder Junior Caminero, Major League Baseball’s second-best prospect, from Triple-A Durham on Tuesday.

Caminero had a batting average of .276 with 13 home runs and 34 RBI in 53 games for Durham. The 21-year-old was sidelined twice this season due to quadriceps injuries.

Caminero played in seven games with the Rays last year and had a .235 batting average with one home run and seven RBIs.

Curtis Mead was sent to Durham. The infielder had a batting average of .238 with one home run and seven RBIs.

METS: Rookie pitcher Christian Scott has begun a throwing program in hopes of returning to New York’s lineup this season after sitting out a strained ligament in his throwing elbow.

The Mets’ most promising pitcher threw 35 times from 75 feet, after throwing about 25 times from 60 feet on Sunday.

Scott, who is 0-3 with a 4.56 ERA in nine major league starts since making his debut on May 4 with an impressive performance in Tampa Bay, was placed on the injured list on July 22 with a sprained ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. The 25-year-old hopes to return to action this season.
