Olivia Munn is said to have returned Christmas presents from Aaron Rodgers’ parents during an ugly argument that broke out shortly after they began their relationship.
According to an excerpt from “Out of Darkness: The Mystery of Aaron Rodgers,” obtained exclusively by The Post on Tuesday, the gifts were returned to Ed and Darla Rodgers’ home in Chico, California, on Ed’s birthday.
The NFL star’s parents reportedly thought the couple had sent him birthday presents and were disappointed when they opened the package and saw the refused gifts.
Munn’s alleged insult occurred after she allegedly disinvited her former boyfriend’s parents to watch him and the Green Bay Packers play the Buccaneers in Tampa Bay.
Recalling the incident, Ed told Out of Darkness author Ian O’Connor that he stood up for himself and his wife – but he was sure he didn’t say anything that would have led to an argument between them, their son and Munn, now 44.
“The only thing I said was, ‘You haven’t been here long. You’re just his girlfriend. We’re his parents,'” he claimed.
Page Six did not immediately respond to our request for comment from Munn’s representative.
The actress and 40-year-old Aaron were together between 2014 and 2017. Rumor has it that their relationship is the reason for the split between the New York Jets quarterback and his parents.
“I think Aaron took Olivia’s side in everything that happened on the phone or with the Christmas presents,” a family friend said of the book.
“They were a couple and he supported her. … Aaron found (in Munn) a comrade who said, ‘I see it the same way you do.'”
However, in an interview on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM radio show in 2018, Munn claimed that Aaron, who played for the Green Bay Packers during their time together, cut off contact with his family eight months before they began their relationship.
However, Ed refuted her story in the upcoming book.
“She just made things up to look good,” he criticized.
“We had a great relationship (before they started dating). Nothing bad happened.”
However, Aaron told O’Connor that his ex “had nothing to do with all those years before.”
While he declined to speak in greater detail about his family’s drama, he criticized her for speaking to the media about him and their dynamic.
“I wonder why they feel the need to talk about it, because it’s like a game of poker,” he noted. “When you have all the cards in your hand, you don’t have to bluff. They can’t say anything other than make up stories, but you have to look at the facts.”
Aaron and his father reunited in 2023 after about nine years of estrangement, suggesting a possible reconciliation.
Although they haven’t closed any gaps yet, Aaron says it’s “definitely possible.”
His mother told O’Connor that the family “would be so happy to move on,” while Ed added: “And we have unconditional love for him. No matter what happened, we just want the relationship.”
Munn married comedian John Mulaney in July. The couple have a two-year-old son together, Malcolm.
“Out of the Darkness” hits shelves on August 20th.
