The Big Ten, the oldest Division I conference in America, has expanded for the first time since 2014. Four teams will be added for the upcoming 2024 season, bringing the total number of team members to 18. This expansion sets the stage for exciting matchups and increases anticipation for the college football season across the country.

The four teams joining the Big Ten Conference for their inaugural season are the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), the University of Oregon, the University of Southern California (USC) and the University of Washington.

“We are pleased to officially welcome the University of Oregon, UCLA, USC and the University of Washington to the Big Ten Conference today,” Big Ten Commissioner Tony Petitti said in a statement. “All four institutions boast a combination of world-class academics and athletics that are an excellent fit for our conference, and we look forward to building long-term relationships with the administrators, coaches, student-athletes, alumni and fans.”
