Future party leader Davutoglu addresses rumors about return of AK Party

Ahmet Davutoglu, chairman of Turkey’s Future Party, has dismissed the rumors about a possible return to the AK Party as unfounded. In a recent statement, Davutoglu responded to these claims by saying, “I have no time for mythomaniacs,” and clarified that his relationship with the AK Party is not as distant as some may think.

There is speculation in Turkish politics that the Future Party could reunite with the AK Party, especially after Mustafa Nedim Yamali, a prominent figure within the Future Party, confirmed this. Yamali confirmed that there are ongoing talks about this possibility, which were reportedly started under Davutoglu’s leadership.

Davutoglu dismissed the rumors as repetitive untruths and described them as “mythomania,” a term used to describe people who lie compulsively without any social or personal benefit. He assured: “We are not going anywhere; we will continue on our path,” while also declaring: “The AK Party is not far from me at all. I see the unease in the broad conservative base and I will do whatever is necessary.”

He cited significant differences of opinion with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as the reason for the split and noted that discontent continued to exist within the AK Party ranks.
