Michael Sheen as Prince Andrew in “A Very Royal Scandal” – First Photos

Amazon Prime Video has released first pictures of Michael Sheen and Ruth Wilson in A very royal scandala series following the infamous BBC interview with Prince Andrew about Jeffrey Epstein.

The newly released photos show Sheen (A good omen, The Prodigal Son – Master of Sex) as a member of the British royal family and Wilson (Luther, The affair, Jane Eyre) as chief reporter Emily Maitlis, demonstrating the power of journalism in an event that most consider a major stain on the monarchy’s already battered reputation.

“One night. One hour. An interview that sent shockwaves around the world,” says a synopsis. The three-part series is based on the real-life interview between Maitlis and Prince Andrew in 2019. It was about the scandalous allegations against him in connection with his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and Virginia Giuffre, who claimed to have had sex with the prince as a minor.

Premieres exclusively on Prime Video in the US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand on September 19. A very royal scandal follows the conduct of Maitlis and Prince Andrew leading up to the interview, during the meeting and afterward, including the many questions it left behind that would change their lives forever.

In addition to Sheen and Wilson, the series also stars Joanna Scanlan (After Love – Notes on a Scandal) as Amanda Thirsk, Alex Jennings (Your Christmas or mine?) as Sir Edward Young, Éanna Hardwicke (The Sixth Commandment) as Stewart Maclean and Claire Rushbrook (Secrets and lies) as Sarah Ferguson.

Directed by Julian Jarrold, with a screenplay by Jeremy Brock, the series was produced by Blueprint Television for Amazon MGM Studios and is distributed worldwide by Sony Pictures Television.

Executive producers are Karen Thrussell, Graham Broadbent, Pete Czernin, Diarmuid McKeown, Jeremy Brock, Jarrold and Maitlis himself. Josh Hyams serves as producer of the series.
