Ryan Murphy’s “Grotesquerie” gets FX premiere date

FX announces more details – including a premiere date – for its upcoming series produced by Ryan Murphy grotesque.

The series, a horror drama that Murphy announced with a cryptic teaser in February, is set to premiere on cable on Sept. 25 and stream on Hulu the next day. The cast includes Niecy Nash-Betts, Courtney B. Vance, Lesley Manville, Micaela Diamond, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Raven Goodwin and NFL star and Taylor Swift boyfriend Travis Kelce.

Details about grotesque have been sparse so far, but FX provided the following description of the show: “A series of heinous crimes has unsettled a small community. Detective Lois Tryon (Nash-Betts) finds these crimes eerily personal, as if someone – or something – is taunting her. At home, Lois struggles with a strained relationship with her daughter (Goodwin), a husband (Vance) in long-term care, and her own inner demons. With no leads and unsure of where to turn, she enlists the help of Sister Megan (Diamond), a nun and journalist with the Catholic Guardian. Sister Megan, with her own difficult past, has seen the worst of humanity, but still believes in its ability to do good. Lois, on the other hand, fears that the world is succumbing to evil. As Lois and Sister Megan gather clues, they become entangled in a dark web that seems to provide more questions than answers.”

grotesque comes from 20th Television, where Murphy is based. Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz and Joe Baken created the series and are executive producers with Alexis Martin Woodall, Max Winkler, Nash-Betts, Vance, Peter Liguori, Nissa Diederich, Eric Kovtun and Scott Robertson. Winkler, Murphy, Woodall and Elegance Bratton directed the episodes.
