GRAND BLANC, MI — Hundreds of participants walked the grounds of the Grand Blanc High School campus or sat in lawn chairs near South Saginaw Street and watched and heard The Rock Showa rock ‘n’ roll tribute band.
Since June 27, the Grand Blanc Block Party events have featured various bands performing at the four-part collaborative event hosted by the Grand Blanc School District, Township, City and Chamber of Commerce.
Previous events took place on June 27, July 11 and July 25, with the final event of the year taking place on Thursday, August 8.

While The Rock Show During a band’s performance, cars on the main street slowed down and rolled down their windows to listen to rock’n’roll covers, such as Geizhals – Twice shy from Great White Shark And Sister Christian from Night Ranger.
The choice of a rock-n-roll tribute band was intentional, because the theme of Thursday’s meeting was The rock of the 80s.

In addition to the live music, attendees enjoyed the setting sun on the lawn near the high school, while the Emmanuel Church in Grand Blanc distributed free water guns to children.
Live music could be heard all the way to Don Batchelor Field, and the smell of food trucks offering fresh pizza, grilled food and various sweets filled the air.

The scoreboard at Don Batchelor Field, a new addition to the Grand Blanc Athletic Complex, showed the 1985 family film “The Goonies,” starring Sean Astin.
The free community event brought families, people of all ages and four-legged friends together at Grand Blanc High School.
