Sam Smith’s debut album is back in a big way

Sam Smith released one of the most commercially successful debut albums of all time in 2014. In the 10 years since the release In the lonely hourThey continued to produce hits and garner critical acclaim, although they didn’t quite live up to their first project.

To celebrate the album’s anniversary, Smith recently released a tenth anniversary edition of In the lonely hour. Fans in the musician’s home country were obviously interested in the bonus tracks and special features found only on the deluxe edition, as they propelled the set back into a number of charts in the UK.

In the lonely hour reappears in three UK charts during this period, with the set catapulted back into a number of rankings by a significant increase in sales and streams, largely due to the excitement of the re-release.

Smith’s debut album makes it back into the UK’s main album charts this time, and is once again a top 40 hit. This week, the set lands at number 32 on the ranking of the country’s most consumed projects.

In the lonely hour has now spent 459 weeks somewhere on the competitive list. Smith’s breakthrough has earned him eight frames at No. 1 in the UK so far, as well as 141 in the top 40 – and that number is rising this frame.

The same project is again a bestseller – and almost a top 10 bestseller. The set reappears at number 11 on the official album sales charts and just misses out on staying longer in the higher category of titles that can only be purchased.

In the lonely hour is also back in the official vinyl album charts. This week the album – now even longer than before – lands at number 17 on the UK’s best-selling vinyl chart.

The tenth anniversary edition of In the lonely hour contains content that superfans clearly wanted to hear — and buy. The collection includes a previously unreleased cut called “Little Sailor,” which may have prompted many fans to purchase the project. It also includes live performances and a new take on “Stay With Me,” the set’s biggest hit, which now accurately reflects Smith’s nonbinary identity.
