The untold story of Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar

You have seen their iconic words translated to the screen, you have seen their films conquer the box office, you have even witnessed their dialogues become deeply etched in our cultural consciousness. But this is the untold story of the original Hindi cinema Angry young men – the legendary screenwriters of Hindi cinema of the 1970s – Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, who changed the course of writing in the Indian film industry and how. Streaming giant Prime Video released the trailer of a documentary series titled Angry young men with some of Bollywood’s biggest names talking about Salim-Javed and decoding their success story, looking back at their legendary journey, the infamous rift and everything else in between.

The trailer begins with Salim Khan’s superstar son Salman Khan saying, “This is the first film I’m really nervous about.” The video then cuts to Farhan Akhtar, the filmmaker and actor and son of Javed Akhtar, adding, “I mean, the only reason I knew my father wrote those films is because he was my father.” The icons have made around 24 films together – including some of Bollywood’s biggest blockbusters, including Sholay, Zanjeer, Deewaar, Yaadon Ki Baaraat And Don.

The trailer also features several celebrities sharing anecdotes. Celebrities like Shabana Azmi, Zoya Akhtar, Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Shatrughan Sinha, Jaya Bachchan, Honey Irani, Karan Johar, Arbaaz Khan and others are seen in the trailer. We can’t wait for the trailer to finally arrive.
