John Mulaney speaks for the FIRST TIME about his secret marriage to Olivia Munn – and sweetly brings his new mother-in-law to the late-night interview appearance

Just one month after his secret wedding to Olivia Munn, John Mulaney confirmed the nuptials on Late Night with Seth Meyers.

The 41-year-old Chicago native was married to Annamarie Tendler for eight years until the relationship quickly ended and Mulaney began dating 44-year-old Munn in 2021. The couple had their son, Malcolm Hiệp Mulaney, in November 2021.

The couple surprised their fans in July when they announced that they had secretly married in New York.

The comedian’s old friend Meyers mentioned the wedding at the beginning of the interview, whereupon Mulaney said:Yes, I did. I got married. Thank you very much.’

He added: “It’s the best. It’s the best. And my mom is here, too,” although when they cut to his “mom,” it was actually his mother-in-law, Kimberly, who he calls “Miss Kim.”

Kimberly immigrated to the United States from Vietnam in 1975 and settled in Oklahoma City, where she met Olivia’s father, Winston.

When Meyers points out that it’s Munn’s mother, Mulaney says, “Oh yeah. But like you said, we got married, so that’s – I prefer to call her mother-in-law.”

When asked by Meyers how he felt he got along with his in-laws, Mulaney replied:“It’s the greatest time of my life.”

“I’ve experienced many interesting situations. Marrying into a big Vietnamese family is one of the funniest things I’ve ever done,” he said.

When Mulaney was asked for more details about his marriage into this family, he said: “IIf I were to imitate my mother-in-law perfectly, it would be the end of my career. We all know that somehow.’

He added how happy he was that Miss Kim came along and joked:One of them will go with you everywhere. (Slight laughter) And they call me John Mulaney, my full name. A little wrong, always full name. ‘Olivia is here with John Mulaney.’ Yes. And they are the greatest.’

The comedian added that his family “uptight about a lot of different things like, ‘M“Everything, everything, every health issue is taboo.”

“The Luong family talks about everything when they meet you. Like, how much money do they have? Why are they so thin?”

He added a story about Miss Kim’s brother Foo, an engineer from Indianapolis, who was visiting him and Olivia in Chicago.

“And he came at midnight. You know how people arrive? We were waiting for Foo to arrive. And he came in. All his luggage was in a green garbage bag. And he came up to me and said, ‘What state do you live in?’ Immediately. First question,” Mulaney says.

Asked if this was a “whole new world” for him, he replied, “It’s the very new world. And also, they’re Vietnamese, but they’re Oklahoma Vietnamese, which is a very special group.” He added that Miss Kim was just under 20 when she came to the United States, and some of the siblings were “almost 12.”

“So you’re more likely to have grown up in Vietnam and have a Vietnamese accent and an Oklahoma accent. So, I’ll do it. But… it’s because it really has to be done and besides, there are a maximum of seven people in the world who could be offended by that accent,” he said before showing off his accent.
