Caribbean Airlines expands network with new direct flights to Tortola, British Virgin Islands, from October 2024

Caribbean Airlines has announced the launch of a new route to Tortola in the British Virgin Islands, scheduled to commence on October 14, 2024. This development is in line with the airline’s strategic plan to strengthen connections within the Caribbean region and expand its extensive network. The flights will operate four times weekly from the airline’s base in Trinidad, providing convenient connections to a variety of destinations, including Antigua, Barbados and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Garvin Medera, CEO of Caribbean Airlines, expressed his excitement about this new route, stressing that regional connectivity is a core part of the airline’s mission. He stressed that service to Tortola represents a significant step forward in its growth strategy, with a commitment to providing a seamless travel experience for its passengers. By the end of 2024, Caribbean Airlines aims to connect the Spanish, French, Dutch and English-speaking Caribbean communities, as well as the North American diaspora and business and leisure travelers seeking to explore the Caribbean.

Clive McCoy, Director of Tourism for the British Virgin Islands Tourist Board & Film Commission, expressed his excitement and said that the commencement of Caribbean Airlines’ service to the islands was a positive development for tourism. He noted that more visitors to the BVI would be beneficial and that they look forward to welcoming guests with “BVI Love”.

This expansion underscores Caribbean Airlines’ commitment to promoting regional integration and facilitating access to the diverse destinations in the Caribbean. The new Tortola route not only strengthens the airline’s role in Caribbean aviation, but also supports the region’s economic growth by expanding opportunities for tourism and business travel.
