Costco’s own food brand, Kirkland Signature, is very popular with shoppers because of its low prices on tempting foods and beverages. However, there is one Kirkland-branded beverage that previously received enthusiastic reviews According to customer reports, there has been a recent deterioration in quality.
A Costco customer complained on Reddit this week about Costco’s popular Kirkland Signature Sparkling Waterwhich is sold in mixed packs of 35 with grapefruit, lime and lemon flavors. According to the buyer, some of the seltzers recently lacked an essential feature: fizz.
“Has anyone else received empty cans of sparkling water from Kirkland? I have spoken to several people and we all get empty cans of sparkling water in 30-packs,” they wrote in a post.
As it turns out, this issue has been occurring quite frequently with Kirkland products lately. Several shoppers responded to the post and reported similar experiences with the private label beverages.
“Yep! I’ve had at least one unexploded bomb in every other apartment since May,” said one Redditor commented.
“Yes, I got 1-2 per case,” said another wrote.
Of course, that doesn’t mean that buyers have reported quality issues with Kirkland’s sparkling water across the board. Some Reddit users mentioned that they’ve only received non-carbonated cans several times, or never received a stale Kirkland sparkling water at all.
“I have been buying these for 3-4 years and drink 1-2 daily. I have never had a flat can,” said one customer commented.
However, the fact that numerous Costco customers continue to find flat cans in their sparkling water cases shows that this is not an isolated case. Costco did not immediately respond to our requests for comment on the complaints about Kirkland Signature Sparkling Water.
This isn’t the only Costco product that has drawn significant quality complaints recently. The retailer’s Kirkland Signature lightly breaded chicken breasts (140 calories per serving) also recently came into focuswith shoppers complaining about blood stains and texture issues with the popular chicken product.
“I randomly get nuggets that have hard spots. It’s not cartilage either, it’s just unnaturally rubbery,” said one member complained on Reddit.
New to Costco’s deli section are the Tandoori Chicken Wraps (460 calories per serving). has received its fair share of buyer criticism Customers have criticized them as being too expensive, bland and disappointing in terms of consistency.
“It doesn’t come anywhere close to the intense tandoori flavor I usually get from tandoori chicken. The chicken itself is a lot of small, mushy pieces with barely any texture,” said one Redditor. wrote.
