Tennessee woman beats man with hammer over argument at birthday camping

A woman from Harrison, Tennessee, is charged with attempted first-degree murder after police say she repeatedly hit her boyfriend on the head with a hammer.

Police arrested 57-year-old Pamela Louis Ward on Sunday.

According to an affidavit we obtained, the incident occurred in the early morning hours at a home on Hooper Hollow Road.

The victim later told authorities at the hospital that he and Ward had a disagreement because she wanted to go camping for her birthday that week. She was also upset because she didn’t have a phone, he said.

He told police that Ward was sleeping on the couch but then came into the bedroom and lay down next to him.

The report states that Ward then began complaining over a telephone and then “started hitting his phone with a hammer.

The victim says he tried to take the phone away from Ward, who “began to hit him several times with the hammer on the head, face and body.”

At one point, the report states, the victim asked Ward: “Are you trying to kill me?” But the report says the victim cannot remember her answer.

At some point, Ward left the house, the victim said. He also said he did not get his hammer back.

The victim then went to his son’s house and his son took him to the hospital with several wounds, including a large one on his face.

Officers went to the apartment and found Ward sleeping outside in a lawn chair, the report said. The affidavit states she told officers the victim had attacked her and that she acted in self-defense.

However, investigators found that she had no other wounds other than a red mark on her lip, while the victim suffered significant injuries.

The officer said he saw several pools of blood around the house and also found the hammer Ward is believed to have used in the attack.

Police charged Ward with attempted premeditated murder.
