One lucky Xbox 360 fan manages to get his hands on an impressive haul completely for free.
Reddit user Riley9897 shared his new gift with other fans of the console. They revealed that their girlfriend had a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Xbox 360 Limited Edition, complete with original cables, controllers, hard drive and even microphone, all in the console’s original box. Given the recent nostalgia for this particular console, stemming from Microsoft’s closure of the Xbox 360 marketplace, this particular system reminds many fans of the console’s heyday.
The excitement around Modern Warfare 3 Xbox 360
While some limited edition consoles essentially just add a different exterior to the shell of the gaming device and controllers, this one was a bit more unique. Similar to some other limited Xbox 360 editions, such as the one from God of WarThis creates unique sound effects from the games when the system boots up and shuts down, and when the drive opens or closes. The controllers were also unique for their time and featured a swiveling D-pad that the user could customize as desired.
As one can imagine, the comment section of the post was full of fans congratulating Riley9897 on his new gift. Many thought that such a gift from their girlfriend meant that she was about to become their wife, and some joked about confusing engagement rings with the Xbox 360’s infamous red ring of death. However, another player noted that they own the exact same system and that for some reason it never developed a red ring of death.
Although Microsoft has essentially said goodbye to the Xbox 360, it’s clear that the console still has a strong fan base that’s happy to get a good find. With such a supportive community, chances are the Xbox 360 will remain a fan favorite for many years to come.
