After 14 months of renovations to the old Wayne Bank building on Main Street, Big Eddy Brewing Company brewmaster Jake Johnson, along with co-owners Alison Johnson and Caitlin and Tom Coacci, are excited to unveil what was brewed there – a labor of love to provide locals with a place to drink, eat and socialize.

The brewery’s opening was made official after a soft launch during the hamlet’s annual Riverfest celebration in late July, making Big Eddy Brewing Company the first craft brewery in Narrowsburg.

Jake, a lawyer by profession, wanted to provide a place for Narrowsburg residents to spend time with friends and family. The brewmaster has a personal brewing experience that started with humble beginnings in a home operation – the results inspired him to take things to the next level. With the help of his wife Alison and the partnership with the Coacci duo, the team’s dream came true and now has a home that fits well into the business environment on Main Street.

The newly installed massive stainless steel tanks will house a variety of craft beers including IPAs, Kölschs and stouts starting in mid-September. While waiting for everything to finish brewing, thirsty guests can enjoy other New York-made craft beverages like cider, wine, sour ales, seltzers and craft cocktails in a can. Most drinks are just $8, there’s a happy hour on Fridays from 3pm-7pm with $4 draft beer, with more specials to be announced soon!

Hungry customers don’t have to look far for something to eat, either. In addition to the location at the Sullivan County Golf Club, Smok’d Barbecue also calls 93 Main Street home and offers a menu prepared by award-winning local chef Jean Paul Medina and his wife Sarah.

Chef Medina has created dishes for many notable restaurants in the Catskills in the past, including Callicoon Hills, The DeBruce and The North Branch Inn, operated by Foster Supply Hospitality.

The brewery is open every day except Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., the kitchen closes at 9 p.m.
