Emmy Award-winning comedian John Mulaney will perform his new hour-long stand-up show live at BroadwaySF’s Golden Gate Theatre for one night only on Thursday, September 19, 2024.

There will be no phones at this event. Phones, smartwatches, and accessories are not permitted in the performance area. Upon arrival at the venue, all phones, smartwatches, and accessories will be placed in individual Yondr bags that will be opened at the end of the event. Guests will retain their devices at all times and may only access them in designated phone usage areas within the venue throughout the event. All devices will be placed back in Yondr bags prior to returning to the performance area.
John Mulaney is a three-time Emmy Award, Critics Choice Award and WGA Award-winning author, comedian and actor. Most recently, Mulaney created and hosted Netflix’s EVERYBODY’S IN LA, a six-night live comedy series from May 3-10 that explored Los Angeles during the Netflix Is A Joke Festival. Guests included Jerry Seinfeld and David Letterman, Tony Tucci, co-founder of Citizens for LA Wildlife, and renowned hypnotherapist Kerry Gaynor. The series also featured live audience call-ins and pre-recorded comedy segments. EVERYBODY’S IN LA received rave reviews upon its premiere, with Time magazine writing, “(Mulaney) has everything it takes to be the best late-night host of his generation, at a time when the format seems more desperate than ever for a savior.”
Mulaney’s latest Netflix stand-up special, BABY J, released in April 2023, turns his personal turmoil into comedic genius. BABY J earned him 2023 Emmy nominations for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) and an Emmy win for Outstanding Writing For A Variety Special. BABY J also received the 2024 Critics Choice Award for Best Comedy Special (Non-Televised). In 2023, Mulaney also appeared in an episode of the popular Emmy-winning FX series THE BEAR.
Mulaney tours regularly, selling out huge venues across North America, from Madison Square Garden to the Hollywood Bowl. His 2023 tour dates include shows in the US, Europe and Australia.
In 2018, John Mulaney toured the US with a sold-out Kid Gorgeous tour, which was later released as a Netflix stand-up special and won the Emmy for Outstanding Writing in a Variety Special. In 2015, he released The Comeback Kid, also a Netflix original, which The AV Club called “the finest hour of his career.” In 2012, he was hailed as “one of the best living stand-up comedians” by Ken Tucker of Entertainment Weekly in his Comedy Central special New In Town.
John Mulaney has hosted Saturday Night Live five times. He began writing for SNL in 2008, creating memorable characters like “Stefon” with Bill Hader and collaborating with the hosts on their monologues. He has written and performed in IFC’s Documentary Now! and Netflix’s Big Mouth, in which he voices the character Andrew. In December 2019, the critically acclaimed and Emmy-nominated musical variety special John Mulaney & The Sack Lunch Bunch premiered on Netflix.
He also starred on Broadway in the smash hit Oh, Hello On Broadway, which he co-wrote and performed with Nick Kroll. The duo have since released a Netflix special of the same name, Oh, Hello: The P’dcast, based on their characters Gil Faizon and George St. Geegland.
