Victorville police accuse panhandlers of using fake photos and information to solicit money – VVNG.com

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) – A group of beggars from Pico Rivera were charged with extorting money from residents of the city of Victorville by using false information and photographs.

On Friday, August 9, 2024, at approximately 12:37 p.m., Sergeant J. Tebbetts of the Victorville Police Department observed a man on the roadway at the intersection of Bear Valley Road and US 395 Highway holding a sign with a child’s picture and an inscription on it.

The man, who was later identified as a 19-year-old Giuseppe Militaruheld up a sign announcing the death of a child in a car accident, sheriff’s officials said.

Militaru, together with his mother 45 years old Mariana Pasareand a 17-year-old youth drove from Pico Rivera to the High Desert to beg for money.

“The information and pictures of the children advertised were false information,” the officials said.

Guiseppe Militaru and Mariana Pasare were summoned for PC 647(C) – Begging. The posters, jars and cash were seized as evidence.

Victorville Police want to remind the public to be careful when giving money to panhandlers.
