On Saturday, August 10, 2024, the Des Moines Legacy Foundation and the Inkfish Foundation sponsored the inaugural art exhibition at the Inkfish Gallery on 7th Avenue in Des Moines.

The gallery and exhibition were put together by local artists George C. Scott and Fred Andrews.

The exhibition featured artwork by several local artists working in various media, including:

  • Fred Andrews
  • Nancy Bogni
  • Amanda Gligorea
  • Earl Harper
  • Patrick McVay
  • George C. Scott
  • Michaela Schmidt
  • Chris Strenberg-Powidzki
  • M. Anne Sweet
  • Toka Value

A live jazz performance by the well-known guitarist Ron Peters, accompanied by drummer Mark Drake from the band ThorNton Creek, also contributed to the creative atmosphere. The combination of visual art and music created a lively and rousing atmosphere for the participants.

The success of this event has inspired Scott and Andrews to plan future exhibitions at Inkfish Gallery, including solo exhibitions, themed exhibitions, and additional group exhibitions.

Notable attendees included Washington State Representative Tina Orwall and members of the local community who mingled with the artists and enjoyed the rich display of local talent.
