An Oakland County woman is $693,000 richer after winning the lottery.
The 40-year-old told state lottery officials she would remain anonymous, but purchased her $1 million Hamilton instant game ticket at a Meijer gas station in Commerce Township at 1703 Haggerty Highway.
Instead of accepting $1 million checks over a long period of time, she opted for a lump sum payment of $693,000.
“My husband and I play instant win tickets all the time,” she told Michigan Lottery officials. “When we scratched off our Hamilton ticket and saw that we had won $1 million, we were over the moon! We always felt like the day would come when we would win big, and it’s a blessing that it actually happened!”
She told state officials that she planned to buy a new car and save the rest.
Players have won more than $13 million on Hamilton, which launched in May. A ticket costs $10 and offers a chance to win between $10 and $1 million. According to state lottery records, more than $38 million in prizes remain up for grabs, including two $1 million top prizes, 19 $10,000 prizes and 92 $2,000 prizes.
