Will the mainstream media give Walz the same treatment as Vance? It’s unlikely.

WASHINGTON — I’ll start with a prediction: The major media will not cover potential Vice President Tim Walz with the same intensity that they reserved for digging up incriminating material on JD Vance after Donald Trump named the Ohio senator as his vice presidential running mate.

There will be no stories about leaked text messages the now Democratic running mate sent to someone he once considered a friend.

There will be no stories about her fellow Democrats urging Kamala Harris to back down from her decision and find a new vice president.

There will be no uproar about her choosing an extremist, a progressive, when she could have chosen a centrist.

The honeymoon will last until the Democratic National Convention or November 5, whichever comes later.

The mainstream media will not find it strange that the Democratic governor of Minnesota caused a stir after saying of Donald Trump and Vance: “These guys are just weird.”

“In a word, (Walz) gave the Harris campaign a kind of slogan that they used over and over again,” MSNBC’s Yamiche Alcindor said.

No, I watch CNN and hear words like “folk” for Walz.

MSNBC reports that Walz is a gun owner and a “passionate pheasant hunter” – for the Democrats, gun ownership is a sign of authenticity.

Walz is also the one who said: “Never shy away from our progressive values. What is socialism for one person is charity for another.” That is like a tree falling in an uninhabited forest.

The above remark was made during Walz’s recent fundraising call, “White Dudes for Harris.” White guys soliciting money from rich guys? There’s no sign of that here.

My first reaction to Walz’s selection: Why didn’t Harris choose Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, a moderate Democrat from a swing state?

Shapiro is Jewish, which some say could hurt Democrats’ efforts to win the swing states of Michigan and Wisconsin.

An NPR poll released Tuesday morning found that 17 percent of Americans viewed Walz favorably, but 71 percent had never heard of him or weren’t sure how to rate him. Shapiro and Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly scored better, but they apparently weren’t far enough to the left.

Pennsylvania has 19 electoral college votes — nearly twice as many as Minnesota’s 10. And Pennsylvania is in the race. The last time Minnesotans chose a Republican candidate for the White House over a Democrat was in 1972.

In short, the choice of Walz was not strategic, but isolationist. At best.

Commentator Van Jones acknowledged on CNN that an element of anti-Semitism is “embedded” in the Democratic Party.

The Jewish Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer disagrees. Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff, is also Jewish.

One last thing: Walz was the governor who waited three chaotic days before sending in the National Guard to quell the violent “social justice” riots sparked by the brutal murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police.

“They make an interesting team,” Vance told reporters from the campaign plane on Tuesday, “because Tim Walz allowed rioters to burn down Minneapolis in the summer of 2020, and the few who were caught were released from prison with the help of Kamala Harris.”

Vance was referring to a tweet from Harris in which she urged her followers to donate money to @MNFreedomFund “to help pay bail for protesters on the ground in Minnesota.”

And that’s a story.
