With the NFL season being as emotional as a soap opera and Swifties falling in love with football, the Chiefs had a little fun last season with a mock Hallmark commercial starring Tyler Hynes and Janel Parrish (watch the video below!). Now the Kansas City-based feel-good network is filming a real-life romantic comedy starring the Chiefs – Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Storystarring Hynes and Hunter King.

“I feel so lucky to be a part of it,” King enthuses Fire Brigade over drinks at a fancy Hallmark event. “It combines two huge, diehard fan bases — both rooted in Kansas City and both so loyal — so it’s going to be great to see them come together and merge into one.”

Although the Daytime Emmy winner is a star in her own right, she knows what it means to be a superfan – and not just because she is a Swiftie whose sister Joey King is in the Video for “I Can See You (Taylor’s Version)”.

“I wanted to be a quarterback when I was a kid – so much so that I would watch videos of Peyton Manning throwing a football,” King says. “I was obsessed! I can’t say I root for a particular team. I was a Peyton Manning fan, and when he went from the Colts to the Broncos, I was like, ‘I’m jumping on the bandwagon. I’m going anywhere you go.’ I love football, so to do this film is a dream come true. I mean, to get to film at Arrowhead Stadium? What can I say? It’s incredible.”

In King’s 2024 Hallmark romantic comedy, she plays Alana, a member of the Chiefs Kingdom who considers herself the team’s biggest fan.

“All sides of her family met as diehard Chiefs fans, so this is their life,” jokes King. “This year they’re up for Fan of the Year, and Alana is meeting Derek, the Chiefs’ director of fan engagement, to help decide who will receive this incredible award.

“When they meet, there’s a little tension,” she adds, “and then maybe a little romance comes into play.”

Alana seems to be the favorite for the competition, but when her grandfather’s lucky hat, which belongs to the Chiefs, goes missing, she’s thrown into disarray – and may need some desperate vacation tips to secure her happy ending.

“It has all the typical Hallmark Christmas moments, all wrapped up in a pretty little bow,” promises King.
