On Monday, Narita Airport’s runway B had to be temporarily closed after white smoke was reportedly seen rising from the plane as it landed. The incident, which occurred shortly after the plane landed in Tokyo, prompted a rapid emergency response, although no injuries were reported.

Shortly after the plane landed, smoke was noticed coming from the plane’s left engine, prompting six fire trucks and two ambulances to rush to the scene. The incident led to the temporary closure of Narita’s Runway B at around 7:40 a.m. local time (22:40 GMT).

A Narita City Fire Department official confirmed that smoke was reported but there were no signs of fire. Firefighters monitored the situation for over an hour before leaving as no further problems were detected. The plane, which was carrying 276 passengers and crew, reported the problem to the airport after landing.

An airport spokesman said: “The airline advised that there may be a problem with landing.” The spokesman also mentioned that pieces of tyres were found on the runway, but further details of the incident were not disclosed.

The temporary closure of the runway caused some disruption, but operations have now resumed as normal. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the smoke and assessing any potential impact on airport operations.
