Exclusive single premiere: Green Mohair Suits “Hell Or High Water” (2024)

Sydney Foursome, Green mohair suits create exquisite folk/country/bluegrass music and are back today with a new track: “Hell Or High Water. The track is the first single from their upcoming fifth album, Stan Wellais due out in late September. We’re excited to debut it ahead of its release on Wednesday.

“Hell Or High Water” is a slow-moving tale of heartbreak and struggle. The beautiful harmonies that the Green Mohair Suits are known for are present here, as is their careful musicianship. It has a Springsteen-esque vibe, with the vivid and bleak story of despair and struggle slowly unfolding.

Ben Romalis from GMS gives us some background information about the song: This song tells the story of two young lovers struggling to make ends meet financially in a time reminiscent of the Great Depression. They get married, he takes a job with the mafia, and then a simple mistake leads to the horrific scenario that has the two newlyweds running for their lives. But the twist in this story comes when the woman turns out to be as dangerous as any crime boss – a born killer who will do anything to survive and protect the people she loves..”

The four songwriters of GSM (Brian Campeau, Richard Cuthbert, Jason MannellAnd Ben Romalis)are all accomplished musicians. Their music spans genres such as bluegrass, indie folk and country, and they aren’t afraid to move towards ’60s pop and reggae. The constant of the quartet is their excellent harmonies and superb musicianship. And if you can see them live, don’t miss the opportunity, because there’s plenty of humor and candor in the mix too.
