Entries for the Constitution Week student art and essay contest will be accepted until August 26

The Downtown Arts and Placemaking Advisory Subcommittee will select the winners, who will be announced at the Queen Creek City Council meeting on September 18. The grand prize, sponsored by the Pecan Lake Entertainment Center, includes gift certificates to their facility.

In honor of Constitution Week, celebrated the week of September 16, the City is hosting an art and essay contest for students in grades 1-12 who attend a school in the City of Queen Creek.

Registrations in the following categories will be accepted until Monday, August 26th:

  • Founding Father Fun – Create an original piece of artwork of one or more Founding Fathers in an art medium of your choice, or write a one-page letter to one of the Founding Fathers highlighting their legacy.
  • What the Constitution means to me – Create an original piece of art or write a one-page essay describing what the U.S. Constitution means to you.

Applications may be submitted along with the registration form Monday through Thursday between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. at the Municipal Services Building, 22358 S. Ellsworth Road.

Selected entries, including the winners, will be exhibited on Founders Day and at the QC Community Concert.

The QC Community Concert in honor of Constitution Week will be held on Friday, September 13th at 7 p.m. at the Queen Creek Performing Arts Center, 22149 E. Ocotillo Road, behind Queen Creek High School. The free concert will feature schools from across Queen Creek singing together.

Celebrate Queen Creek’s 35th anniversary on Founders’ Day on Saturday, September 21 from 5-9 p.m. at Founders’ Park, 22407 S. Ellsworth Road. The free event includes fun activities, entertainment and the exciting Battle of the Badge contest. Select entries will be on display at the Constitution Week booth. Stop by to view the entries and participate in the Founders’ Fashion Gallop.
