Seydou Traore praises the tight end room highly before the first week

Seydou Traore and Justin Ball have been announced as co-starters for Mississippi State in Week 1 against Eastern Kentucky, and Traore in particular is excited to see what numbers he and the rest of the tight end room can put up.

Traore transferred to Colorado after his successful sophomore season at Arkansas State, but quickly landed on campus in Starkville, where he had to sit out the 2023 season due to transfer eligibility issues.

Prior to Colorado, Traore was one of the top threats on Arkansas State’s offensive line, giving many larger programs a headache heading into the 2022 season. At 6’4″ and 235 pounds, Traore’s frame makes him an ideal red zone target for transfer quarterback Blake Shapen in Jeff Lebby’s offense.

The London-born Englishman never played 11-man football before arriving in the United States and now plans to make his mark in Starkville and the SEC after three years of college football.

“It’s going to be great,” Traore said of his first game in front of fans at Davis Wade Stadium. “I can’t wait. It’s been a while, so I’m very emotional.”

Traore and Vanderbilt transfer Justin Ball have been neck and neck throughout fall practice, and it shows in the Week 1 lineup. When the clock hits kickoff on Saturday, Traore is fully confident his unit will be at its best.
