Cho played in Harold and Kumar go to White Castle in 2004 together with Kal Penn, Neil Patrick Harris and yes, briefly, Ryan Reynolds. The Deadpool and Wolverine Star played a supporting role in a single but memorable scene, referred to only as “nurse.”

Roker asked Cho how his children reacted to the film now that they were old enough to watch it, but Cho had to correct him. “I had to take my daughter out of the house,” he said of his 12-year-old daughter. “Not family friendly,” Roker agreed.

“It’s hard to believe it’s been 20 years,” Roker said of the first Harold and Kumar Film that catapulted John Cho’s career into the stratosphere and took him from single roles in series such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer And HE to a leading role as Sulu in JJ Abrams’ Star Trek Movies.

Dreyer asked Cho if he could “ever revisit that character” of Harold, the investment banker, stoner and best friend of Penn’s Kumar, who shared surreal, often gross-out adventures together in three films and two shorts. “Could be,” he replied. “I think it would be fun to do that. It’s a little bit like an early 2000s movie in a lot of ways, but I’d love to see if we could.”

In a Rolling Stone At the film’s 20th anniversary celebration, Penn and producer Nathan Kahane raved about Reynolds’ involvement in the project. Penn recalled that his last callback for a role in Reynolds’ student comedy Van Wilder from National Lampoon“It was a role of an Indian exchange student between me and a white guy with brown makeup,” and Reynolds “was obviously crossing his fingers that I would get the job.”

After Penn landed the role, Reynolds told him, “When you get your first leading role, let me know and I’ll play the supporting role.” Harold and Kumar happened and we talked about cameos, I contacted Ryan and he immediately said, ‘Yeah, definitely.'”
