A major Star Wars Outlaws PS5 patch is keeping some players trapped in space, and Ubisoft is advising those potentially affected to start over

Although the full release is scheduled for August 30, the Early Access phase for Star Wars Outlaws has already begun. However, for some PS5 players, it looks like this isn’t as big a head start as expected. This is due to issues where people are stuck in space and have to start a new save to continue.

If you pre-ordered either the Gold Edition or Ultimate Edition of Outlaws, the game has started unlocking in the last few days to give you “up to three days” of early access. This is one of the big benefits of opting for a more expensive version, alongside the usual extras you might expect to drop in at launch.

Unfortunately, some players have reported getting partway into the game and then, after completing certain missions, becoming stuck outside the world and unable to progress. “I’m really enjoying the game,” one wrote on Reddit, “but now I’m stuck in space above Toshara and I can’t get a prompt to land or anything.”

Currently, this issue only seems to be affecting the PS5 and does not necessarily affect everyone. Ubisoft has sent an email to some players following the deployment of the massive 1,000,002 patch on the platform, advising anyone playing with saves from older versions to switch to new saves created after the game was updated.

The message sent by the publisher, which includes instructions on how to check which version of the game you are using, reads as follows: “To ensure the best experience of the Outer Rim, we have performed maintenance to ensure everyone is playing the latest version of the game. As one of the affected players who had access to an older version of the game, we are aware that you may be encountering some issues following this recent patch. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

“Once you’ve confirmed you have the latest version, please start a new save to fully enjoy Star Wars Outlaws as our team intended. Unfortunately, if you continue with a previous save, you will encounter issues and progress blockers.”
