Johnny Ray “John” Beville, 62, of Cordova, Tennessee, died on August 19, 2024, at the Elvis Presley Trauma Center in Memphis, Tennessee, from complications following an automobile accident.

Johnny was born on December 22, 1961 in Memphis, Tennessee. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Lorie; his children, Kevin Beville (Ashley), Morgan MacBride (Jerry); his stepdaughter, Brittni Phyfer (Matt); his grandchildren, Layla Beville, Oliver MacBride and Rowan MacBride; and his step-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Kolbi and Eliza Phyfer; his father, John W. Beville; his brother, Terry Beville; and his sister, Andra Beville.

Johnny was preceded in death by his mother Brenda J. Beville, his grandparents Wesley and Kathleen Beville, Billy and Edith Anderson and his sister-in-law Donna Beville.

He graduated from Bartlett High School and studied accounting and finance at the State Technical Institute in Memphis. After graduating high school, he worked briefly on a barge on the Mississippi River, but that was just an adventure. Johnny started his career in credit/finance and never looked back. He worked for several companies, including as a credit manager for Snap-on Tools, but in July of 1996, his long career began at Thompson Machinery. Johnny was hired as an assistant credit manager and years later was promoted to director of credit and finance. Johnny recently celebrated his 28th year of working at Thompson Machinery and was planning to retire in 2 years.

Johnny was a Christian and had been actively involved in the church over the years, including teaching Sunday school, serving on finance committees, and singing in the choir.

He had several hobbies: watching Green Bay Packers football games, karaoke, music of many different genres, trivia games, old cars, and watching classic movies (especially horror movies like Dracula). He loved to travel and enjoyed many vacations; some of his favorite trips were a family cruise to Alaska and another was going to Wisconsin to attend a Green Bay Packers home game with Kevin.

Johnny often volunteered his time. If you ever needed help with anything, he would help you if he could. His neighbors agreed. Over the years, he has volunteered many times as “Santa” at dog rescue events for Santa photos. He has even gotten to have his picture taken with his own dogs over the years.

Johnny was a family man and grandfather and becoming a “Pop Pop” was something he loved more than anything. He touched many lives and we will miss him very much.

Johnny’s funeral will take place on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Peebles West Funeral Chapel, 10670 US-64, Somerville, TN 38068. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable donations be made to Team Memphis Rescue & Support (www.TeamMemphis.org) or the Church Health Center (ChurchHealth.org).
