BHSI appoints Prakash as Head of First Party Lines and promotes Yuen to Head of Energy, Asia

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance Company (BHSI), the insurance arm of Warren Buffett’s global reinsurance company, has appointed Kiran Prakash as head of first party lines, responsible for energy, construction and general property in Asia, and promoted Jessie Yuen to head of energy in Asia.

BHSI appoints Prakash as Head of First Party Lines and promotes Yuen to Head of Energy, AsiaYuen succeeds Min Ong, who has relocated to London to join BHSI as Underwriting Manager of Energy Property. Jess Au will continue as Head of General Property in Asia.

Prakash is a mechanical engineer by training and has nearly two decades of industry experience.

He has been Vice President and Regional Head of Engineering and Builders Risk, Asia, at BHSI since 2015. He will continue to hold this role alongside his new responsibilities.

Yuen joined BHSI in 2019 as a Property Energy Underwriter with over 20 years of first-party lines experience. In her new role, Yuen will oversee BHSI’s Property Energy business in Asia, providing solutions to power, mining and oil and gas customers across the region.

Commenting on the appointments, Marc Breuil, Head of Asia and Middle East at BHSI, said: “BHSI has experienced strong, profitable growth in Asia. Kiran, who is building and developing our construction business, and Jessie, who is strategically positioning our energy real estate portfolio in the market, have been critical to our expansion.”
