Many conservatives have marked the third anniversary of the deadly Abbey Gate bombing that killed 13 Americans during the Biden administration’s Afghanistan withdrawal by digging up poorly dated comments from Vice President Kamala Harris.
Monday marks the third anniversary of the August 26, 2021 suicide attack on Hamid Karzai International Airport, which killed 13 US soldiers and more than 100 Afghans. Islamic State terrorists claimed responsibility for the attack.
About four months before the tragic terrorist attack, Harris spoke about her role in a CNN interview, confirming that she was the last person in the room before Biden made the deadly decision to withdraw U.S. troops from Afghanistan.

CNN anchor Dana Bash simply asked, “Afghanistan, were you the last person in the room?”
“Yes,” Harris replied.
“And you feel well?” Bash asked, to which Harris replied, “Yes.”
House Speaker Mike Johnson took to social media on Monday to share an excerpt from the infamous CNN interview.
“Kamala Harris was proud to be the last person in the room to witness the decision that killed 13 U.S. troops and injured many more in Kabul three years ago today,” wrote Pennsylvania Republican Senate candidate Dave McCormick.
Jason Miller, a senior adviser to the Trump campaign, said Harris was “bragging about her role on camera” before releasing the unflattering video. RNC Research, an account run by the Republican National Committee, also published the footage.
Radio host Tom Shattuck responded, “Maybe she should answer a question or two about that,” referring to Harris’s refusal to be interviewed or hold a press conference since she emerged as the Democratic presidential nominee.
“The Democrats will try to make you believe Kamala is not an incumbent, even though she was there in the Biden administration and made decisions,” one Trump supporter responded.
“She was so proud of herself,” added another Trump supporter.
“Today we mourn the 13 Americans who died at Abbey Gate because of the Biden-Harris administration and its horrific intelligence and operational failures. Trump laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier today to honor the 13 heroes while Biden is on the beach and Harris has said nothing. Three years after Harris said she did not regret the botched Afghanistan withdrawal, there is still no accountability,” wrote Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida.
Trump also highlighted the vice president’s statements that she was the last person in the room before Biden made the decision on Afghanistan.

“She boasted that she would be the last person in the room, and she was. She was the last person in the room with Biden when the two of them decided to pull troops out of Afghanistan,” he said at a rally in North Carolina last week. “She had the final vote. She had the final say, and she was all for it.”

The relatives of some of the 13 killed American soldiers appeared on stage at the Republican Party Convention last month and said Biden never publicly disclosed the names of their relatives.
