Washington Commanders rookie tight end puts on a great performance in his preseason debut

The Washington Commanders are playing a live football game. It may not be a regular season game, as the club is taking on the New York Jets, but football is back.

For the Commanders, their new roster and newly formed team is a chance to establish themselves. Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has wasted no time finding the end zone, but he is not the only newcomer making a name for himself in the exhibition competition.

Washington’s rookie tight end Ben Sinnott has made a name for himself throughout training camp and head coach Dan Quinn has reason to praise and trust him.

During the Commanders’ preseason game against the Jets, Sinnott capitalized on that potential and put it into action with a great play down the field. The tight end tore defenders in his wake, fended off tackles and caught a 44-yard pass as the first half drew to a close.

Sinnott could be a nifty weapon for Daniels if the starters play snaps together regularly during the regular season.

The way the roster is constructed, Sinnott will take on the role of the best tight end on the roster following the departure of Zach Ertz, but the Kansas State product and No. 53 overall pick will be difficult to keep off the field if he is able to consistently make plays similar to this one.

“Ben has really embraced the challenges of the NFL,” Quinn said before the preseason game. “His ability to make contested catches was particularly impressive. Those are the moments that test a rookie, and he handled them exceptionally well.”

There are many reasons to believe that Sinnott can be an influential player in his first season at the club.
