Celebrate 25 years of Anodyne at the Bean Plant Block Party

Anodyne Coffee Roasting Company has expanded well beyond coffee in its 25 years, thanks in part to its location on Bruce Street in Walker’s Point. The sprawling brick building is a gathering place at any time of day and one of the city’s most reliable venues for experiencing a quality concert.

On September 22, Anodyne will celebrate everything it has accomplished over the past quarter century when it hosts the third annual Bean Plant Block Party at the same Bruce Street location. The free event will reflect Anodyne’s evolution and include all sorts of activities you wouldn’t normally associate with drinking an espresso.

On the stretch between 2nd and 3rd streets, you’ll find skateboard ramps and obstacles from Cream City Skatepark, a portable climbing wall from Adventure Rock, beer from Indeed Brewing, snacks and drinks from Station 1846, and a vintage market from 414Flea. You can also check out the food truck offerings from Frida’s Kitchen, Twisted plants And Pete’s Pops.

“It’s hard to believe we’re marking 25 years of coffee roasting and community building in Milwaukee, and we wanted to celebrate in a big way,” said Erica Karls, Anodyne’s event director, in a press release.

Her colleague, Digital Marketing and Design Manager Drew Kasten, added: “With so many skaters and musicians working at Anodyne, this is the perfect opportunity for us to throw a great party with our local community, cafe regulars, wholesale customers and the entire Anodyne crew.”

As for skating, the team at Cream City Skatepark will be hosting an open session for kids from 12:00pm to 12:45pm, where boards and pads will be provided for anyone who doesn’t have their own. This will kick off the outdoor part of the party, which will end at 5pm. After that, the celebration will move indoors, where a free anniversary concert for all ages will be held from 6pm to 9pm.
