How would you like to live in the 1970s?

This is possible with this maisonette apartment from another era, which has hardly changed in 40 years and bears all the characteristics of the decade.

That means mustard and lime green shades, floral curtains and ceiling tiles.

However, there is a catch.

The furnishings may be straight out of 1975, but the price is not.

At that time, the average property in Greater London cost £15,000.

This house in Balham, south of the city, has just been put on the market for a whopping £670,000.

The property, which is being offered on OnTheMarket.com, costs £120,000 more than the average home in London and three and a half times the average price in England.

Riz Ali of real estate agent Haart, who advertised the house, said the property represented an “exciting opportunity” for the right buyer.

He added: “While the maisonette does require some TLC, the house is in a fantastic location close to Balham train station and is set on a tree-lined street.

“We have received many requests for viewings so far and most people find the 70s-style decor extremely charming.

“The house was furnished in the 1970s and has largely remained unchanged since then. It is a fascinating home.”

According to the Land Registry, the average home in London currently costs a record £550,000.

In Balham, a typical property costs £775,000.
