Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort: Booking details, concept art and more

An opening date for the upcoming Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has been announced! Along with the opening and booking dates, Disney has revealed new concept art for the upcoming Disney Vacation Club property.

Disney fans can look forward to a lot of exciting dates in 2024. This fall we have the opening of The Little Mermaid – A musical adventure at Disney World, and the Disney Treasure will set sail in December. Also opening in December will be Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, a brand new Disney Vacation Club property.

Island Tower opening and booking dates

While an opening month of December had previously been announced, we now know that the Island Tower is scheduled to open on December 17, 2024. When it opens, the planned 10-story tower will offer a variety of room types, with each guestroom featuring custom furnishings inspired by Vaiana – The wonderful world of love.

Along with the expected opening date, the booking dates have also been announced! Here are the most important dates you should know:

  • June 4, 2024: Disney Vacation Club members may make rental reservations by contacting Member Services at (800) 800-9800. Members may make points-based reservations at a later date.
  • June 5, 2024: Disney World Annual Passholders can begin booking rental reservations by contacting (407) 934-7639.
  • June 6, 2024: All guests can make reservations online or by phone at (407) 934-7639.

First look at the resort rooms

Along with the opening date for the Island Tower, we got a first look at the rooms inside! There will be several room types:

  • Duo Studios (for up to two people)
  • Deluxe Studios (for up to four people)
  • One bedroom villas (sleeps up to five people)
  • Two-bedroom villas (sleeps up to nine people)
  • Two-bedroom penthouse villas (sleeps up to eight people)

Because this is a Disney Vacation Club property, each room includes home-like amenities to make you feel comfortable during your stay. The Deluxe Studios also feature a unique amenity to Disney Vacation Club Deluxe Studios: a dishwasher! This was typically only available in one-bedroom villas and above. And each villa features beautiful Moana-inspired one-of-a-kind pieces, as well as other island-themed amenities.

The studios both include a kitchenette and seating area, while the one and two-bedroom villas feature a full kitchen, dining area, washer and dryer, and outdoor patio area. And the two-bedroom penthouse villas are a brand new type of accommodation and offer views of the Seven Seas Lagoon from an expansive patio balcony. Check out the video below to see the available rooms from the inside!

Island Tower places an emphasis on sustainable design, with several guest room features contributing to Disney’s 2030 environmental goals. One example is the first-ever dishwashers in the tower’s studios, which help minimize the waste of disposable tableware. In addition, the carpets and rugs in guest rooms are made largely from recycled plastic bottles woven into fine yarn.

Wailulu Bar & Grill

When Island Tower opens, guests can dine at Wailulu Bar & Grill. Wailulul takes its name from the Hawaiian words “wai” and “lulu,” meaning water and calm, respectively. The restaurant offers views of the Seven Seas Lagoon, with indoor and outdoor seating and a bar area with views of Cinderella Castle in the Magic Kingdom. Guests can dine at the casual poolside bar, which offers an all-day lunch and dinner menu influenced by the local and indigenous ingredients of the Polynesian islands. Specialty coffees and grab-and-go pastries are also available in the morning.

The dining room will feature Polynesian-inspired artwork created exclusively for this space. There will also be an abstract Polynesian stick map, an ancient navigational tool used to cross the seas. You’ll also find a painting featuring none other than Moana!

Moana splash area and pool

Speaking of Moana, younger guests will enjoy Moana’s Voyage, a new splash pad featuring life-size sculptures of Moana and her canoe. There will also be Cove Pool, a new zero-entry pool available to both Disney Vacation Club members and guests of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

Four terraced gardens

Island Tower guests and DVC members will also receive exclusive access to something very special: four tropical terraced gardens. Each terraced garden will feature colorful artwork, plants and uniquely designed seating areas.

The retreats offer families the opportunity to enjoy views including those of the Seven Seas Lagoon and Disney’s Oak Trail and Magmolia golf courses, or take in breathtaking views of the fireworks at Magic Kingdom!
