Billings hosts the city’s first Montana Airline Rendezvous

Billings hosted the annual Montana Airline Rendezvous on Wednesday with the goal of boosting domestic air travel in the state.

The meeting, which has never been held in Billings before, brings together airports in the state with airline representatives to bring those services to the Big Sky State.

This year’s meeting was attended by airport representatives from Billings, Bozeman, Helena, Great Falls, Missoula, Kalispell and West Yellowstone.

Representatives from airlines such as Allegiant, Cape Air, Delta, Southwest, United, Westjet, Alaska Airlines, JetBlue, Sun Country and American visited the Magic City.

The majority of the meeting took place at the Northern Hotel, but the airline representatives also had the opportunity to explore the outdoors and see what the area has to offer.

Jeff Roach, director of Billings Logan International Airport, expressed hope that the meeting would help provide the community with more options and cheaper flights.

“Competition provides an opportunity to drive down airfares,” Roach said. “The more flight options we have, the more seats available for flights to and from Billings, the more likely it is that airfares will come down. So it’s very important for us to keep that process going.”
